The name of your organization: Droughts In East Africa
Your Specific Topic: Our specific topic is about droughts in East Africa. We want to focus on why people are dying from droughts in Africa and where droughts are happening in East Africa and why. If technology can help us predict when the next rainy season is going to happen then people can be prepared by saving and storing water and be ready for a drought. This is the cause of so many deaths.
The purpose - Why are you doing this action? We want to save people from dying of droughts in East Africa. People around the world are not doing enough to help these people in Africa. Therefore, we hope to raise awareness of this problem. With this awareness we would like people to donate money or time in order to build wells all over Africa so less people will die from droughts.
The message - Why should people be informed about this issue? We are trying to spread more knowledge about droughts, and why and where the droughts occur in East Africa. Also, we would like to let others be aware and prepare for future droughts by using technology to find out when the next rainy season is going to happen.
Goal - Our goal that we hope to accomplish to raise money that will be sent to an organization who has already taken act to help this problem. The organization we want to send our money to is W.W.F.A (Water Wells for Africa). They have built wells around Africa and pipe lines so people that are suffering from a drought can have a water source. They focus in the same area as we have researched, we will contribute our money to them because they are a more established and well known organization. We hope that we can accomplish this because in Kenya the droughts have resulted in tribes fighting over water and although the death toll is not catastrophic this is a unnecessary cause for deaths.
Our short term plan is to set up our wiki and try to get a decent amount of people to support our cause and donate money to us or to the WWFA .
Our long term plan is to keep spreading awareness and have an official website that people can visit and learn more about droughts. We want to raise money for W.W.F.A so we can help build wells for the people in East Africa
